Veterinary Nurse: Permanent, Full Time

Full Time Experienced Veterinary Nurse

SUNBURY, VICTORIA

We have a newly built clinic, with great facilities, and some good toys - including advanced anaesthetic monitoring equipment. We have a reasonable surgical caseload, which is varied (desexings to laparotomies to TPLO’s in-house).
The nursing role: we are looking for a nurse that is able to take charge (often the nursing will be sole-charge), and assist with the daily running of the practice, and its development (marketing and admin are part of the job).
There is opportunity to practice your nursing skills, including dentistry, and on-going nursing education is encouraged and supported. There is a strong customer service focus. A smile and cheerful nature are a must!
Remuneration for the position will be well above the average. The hours are negotiable.  Our clientele are (mostly) really nice and do want the best for their pets

This position primarily involves the following duties:
•Reception: Greeting clients and their pets, assisting clients with queries, answering telephones
•Administration: Generating client correspondence, executing clinic marketing programs and client communications. Client follow up calls. Approx 20% of your time will be spent performing administrative duties
•Handling animals Caring for animals in hospital and surgery, and in recovery.
•Maintaining the overall hygiene of the practice, including surgical areas and equipment
•Undertaking general medical / surgical nursing tasks, including pre and post operative care, animal pathology and emergency and critical care
•Delivering outstanding client care to all patients and owners
•Excellent skills in veterinary reception and customer/client service

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and expertise:
•Preferably, some basic knowledge and understanding of veterinary nursing procedures
•A professional and confident phone manner
•The desire to learn and advance in your chosen career
•A strong ability to listen and follow instructions thoroughly
•Excellent literacy, spelling, grammar and attention to detail in written documentation. Tidy handwriting
•Computer skills – Preferably skilled with MS Excel, Powerpoint
•Web skills – Facebook and, more importantly clinic website management
•A high standard of personal presentation
•Awesome ‘can do’ attitude!
•Reliability and team-oriented approach to work
•Exceptional communication skills with clients and colleagues
•Completed Cert IV in Veterinary Nursing, preferably.
