Clare Valley Veterinary Services is currently recruiting and will be in need of locum cover in the interim and so seeking a mixed practice locum to start ideally mid July 2013. The practice is located in the beautiful Clare Valley wine region of South Australia and is approximately one and a half hours from Adelaide and just over an hours drive from the beaches of the Yorke Peninsula to the West and the Murray river to the East. The job is a genuine mix of 70% small animal and 30% large animal.

We have a great team of nurses and support staff with a large focus on customer service and patient care. The practice is well equipped with Vetlink SQL software, digital xray, in house blood testing, IM3 dental machine, ultrasound (small and large animal), blood pressure and pulse ox patient monitoring.This is a full time role, working 9 days per fortnight with a 1 in 3 after hours rota. There are two roles available – one would be joining the ‘day team, working full time and dealing with a broad caseload. The second role is working as part of the dedicated emergency and critical care ‘night’ team. For this role, there is some flexibility to consider a 5on/5off or 7on/7 off rota allowing for fantastic work/life balance. The clinic consists of a main hospital site plus a branch surgery and the facilities include a well-stocked pharmacy, in-hospital surgery suite, in-house digital x-ray & doppler ultrasound capabilities, comprehensive surgical kit including spinal drill & full orthopaedic kit, iM3 dental machine + separate dental room, 2 surgical suites and a closely supervised hospitalization area, cattery and separate dog, cat and isolation wards. You would be working alongside a 5 vet, multi-nurse team drawing on skills from the UK, Australia and South Africa. You would be dealing with a broad caseload of mainly companion animals – although there is scope for unusual cases to come through from time to time! . We need a veterinarian to fill a vacancy left by the departure of a long-serving colleague at our clinic north of the city in Paralowie, South Australia. Our clinic is a single site practice dealing with small animals, some pocket pets, with birds and reptiles being seen by a colleague who has an interest in these species.

We are extremely well equipped both surgically and for medical diagnostics with toys of a very high calibre. The case load is varied with a greater proportion of cases being non-elective and non-preventative healthcare. This makes for a very interesting and stimulating environment. we have a high nurse to vet ratio to augment this process.

This position would be best suited to a veterinarian with some experience and ideally we would like someone with an aptitude and love of surgery. There are no start to finish shifts, on average one night per week on duty till 19h30, one full day off per week, average of one Saturday morning in four and no Sunday’s or after-hours or on-call.

We require an experienced mixed practice veterinarian for the busy season of Spring and Summer, with the possibility of extending into 2014. We are a truly mixed practice with approximately 65% small animal, 35% large animal (equally shared between equine and cattle work). The equine work is pleasure/performance horse based with no stud work. Experience in equine dental procedures would be ideal. We have a mix of dairy, beef and hobby farmers, with some goat/sheep and alpaca’s as well. The clinic has cattle and equine crush facilities on site. Work hours are negotiable and dependent on work load and as we offer a 24 hour on call service, there would be some after hours and weekend work involved (once again negotiable). We have experienced support staff that have been with the practice for many years and are familiar with practice procedures and clients.

We are located within one hour of Brisbane and 1.5 hours from the Gold Coast in the centre of the picturesque Scenic Rim. The area is surrounded by the Main Range National Park and has an abundance of wineries and other tourist attractions. An experienced (preferred) vet is required to join our four vet small animal clinic. The successful applicant will work in a quality clinic that is a modern and a very well equipped one. There is a main hospital with a computer linked branch clinic 4km away.

Equipment at the practice includes a state of the art computerised digital x-ray unit, a new IDEXX in house pathology (Catalyst Dx/Snapshot Dx/Lasercyte/VetLyte), video endoscope, ultrasound, ECG, blood pressure monitoring, pulse oximeters, oxygen therapy equipment, modern microscope and dental units with ultrasonic scalers.

Excellent nurses (9) provide quality assistance to the Vets and clients. The practice uses Rx Works.

The consulting hours in the main hospital are 7 days a week. Monday and Thursday from 9am to 8pm, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 9am to 7pm, Saturday 9am – 4pm and Sunday 10am – 2pm. The branch clinic is open Monday to Friday 9am to 7pm and Saturday morning from 9am to 11am.
